Marketing

Prior to the offer of any contract, we require a marketing plan for manuscripts we intend to publish. We expect contracted authors to be fully active in the promotion of their books.

Editing & Acceptance

Please closely edit your work before submitting to Logical-Lust, even if it means obtaining third-party assistance. Unedited, or poorly edited submissions, will be dismissed without further consideration.

If your submission is not chosen, we will not provide any further feedback. Publishing is very subjective and at the end of the day, opinion, along with other market based influences, is what we base our decisions on. Our opinion may, and is very likely to, differ from that of another publisher.

Editing of submissions after acceptance is considered part of the acceptance, and the editors reserve the right to edit content and length of any submission prior to publication. However, it is not our intention to alter an individual’s writing or style. Editing would only be done if the editor felt it was in the author’s and/or Logical-Lust’s best interests. The editors reserve the right not to accept any submission.

In rare cases, where no final edits can be agreed upon and/or either party wishes to withdraw/reject the submission, only the rights to the submission in its ORIGINAL form are returned to the author. All edits done under contract by our editors are copyright of Logical-Lust and LL-Publications, therefore the rights to those edits (NOT your original manuscript) remain with us and only the submission in its ORIGINAL form is the property of the author. Authors can, however, retain all of the edits by paying a standard editing fee. No partial edits can be purchased.

Rights

Logical-Lust (LL-Publications) will retain worldwide digital and print rights, which will be exclusive for up to 730 days from the date of publication (depending on whether the book is in print only, print and ebook, or ebook only, and also whether it is a novel, novella, or short), and will retain non-exclusive worldwide digital and print rights after this period unless the author chooses not to extend the contract. If the contract is extended, the author retains secondary rights to his/her work.

Payment terms

For novels/single author collections our standard royalty terms are:

Print: 22.5% of the cover price for books sold directly from our own sources. 7.5% of the cover price for books sold from sources requiring distributor discounts.

Digital (ebook): 50% of the retail download price for sales through our own sources. An equal share of the net income after discount for sales from sources that require distributor discounts.

For multi-author anthologies submitted by one person acting as a compiler and an agent for all the authors involved, we pay the royalty to that agent for the right to publish the material, while authors retain ownership of their work. The anthology agent must provide written proof of consent by all authors they represent, stating that they've granted the agent permission to include their work in the anthology. Responsibility for payment to individual authors lies with said agent, and not with us.

SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

These are our guidelines for sending submissions for publication. Before you begin . . .

Whether you submit to LL-Publications or to any other publisher, it is strongly advised that you pay very close attention to the guidelines for each submission call. Editors often immediately reject many submissions, even outstanding ones, because they don’t meet the simplest of criteria for a submission (i.e., word count, subject matter, etc.). Guidelines are set to ensure that we get exactly what we’re looking for in specific submission calls. If your material doesn’t meet the basic guidelines then, no matter how good it is, it won’t be accepted because it’s not what we need for that specific call.  If you are in doubt about anything, please send a query to either editor(at) ll-publications.com or editor(at)logical-lust.com.

LL-PUBLICATIONS SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

These are our general guidelines. Please follow these guidelines if submitting to LL-Publications or to Logical-Lust. This is especially important if you have submitted to us in the past as our guidelines may have changed.

· Submissions not following these guidelines will not be considered.

· All contributors must be at least 18 years old.

· Please follow these guidelines when answering a specific call for submission unless that specific call asks for something else.

· If you have any questions and depending on the genre of your submission, please send a query to: either editor(at)ll-publications.com or to editor(at)logical-lust.com

· Please have NOVEL SUBMISSION QUERY or SHORT STORY SUBMISSION QUERY in the subject line

Simultaneous submissions

We no longer accept simultaneous submissions. Please do not send these in to us.  This rule applies to, but is not limited to, submissions sent to other websites, publishers, or agents.

How to Submit an Application

· All submissions should be sent as an attached rich text file (.rtf) or MSWord file.

· Email the appropriate editor (either editor(at)ll-publications.com or editor(at)logical-lust.com)

· Submissions must have the following in the subject line:

NOVEL SUBMISSION – Title

SHORT STORY SUBMISSION – Title

· Or follow the instructions given in a specific call as required.

All submissions must be in the following format:

· 12pt Times New Roman or Arial font;

· 1.5 line spacing throughout with an extra space between paragraphs;

· 0.5 tab indent

· No special formatting, with the exception of italics, underline, or bold.

Your initial submission should include:

1. An author's bio of 150 words max, not counting web links. For anthologies, the complete bio of the person compiling the anthology.

2. A 3-5 page synopsis for novel and novella submissions that DOES reveal the story's ending. For short story collections and anthologies, please include a description of the collection/anthology's content (genre, style, theme, etc.)

3. For novels and novellas, please send the first, second, and final chapters.

4. For collections and anthologies, please send an excerpt of approximately 500 words from five stories in the collection/anthology.  If there are less than five stories in the collections, then send one excerpt from each story in the collection/anthology.

6. The pen name (if used) of the author or compiler.

7. The actual name and address of the author or compiler (These are for our use only and kept solely on file).

8. A contact phone number for the author or compiler.  (Again, this is for our use only.)

9. The email address of the author or compiler.

Please DO NOT send a complete manuscript unless we request it. Unsolicited complete manuscripts will be returned unread. If we do request a complete manuscript, it should be formatted in the same manner as stated above and sent as an MSWord file or rich text (.rtf) file.

Response Time

LL-Publications will send an email confirming that we received your submission, usually within a day.  If you receive no confirmation email, that means we have not received your submission, for whatever technical reason.  Please try again, or send a query to editor(at)ll-publications.com for information.

Initial Submission (sample chapters, bio, etc.):

After the receipt of your initial submission, please allow four weeks for us to review your submission and to reach a decision. If you have not heard from us in that time, please feel free to contact us for a status report.

Full Manuscript (when requested):

If a full manuscript is requested for review, please allow up to six weeks after receipt of the manuscript for a decision. If you have not heard from us in that time, please feel free to contact us for a status report.

Content Restrictions & Requirements

Submissions containing storylines glamorising events involving the following will not be accepted: rape or any non-consensual sexual acts, sex with persons under age 18, incest, bestiality, hate, racism, or any other material subsequently deemed unsuitable for LL-Publications.

These topics/issues may be in reference to crimes or mentioned as part of a character's experiences, but they may not be glamorised or vividly described for the purpose of titillation. Nevertheless, LL-Publications reserves the right to reject submissions containing such material if we feel it is inappropriate.

The editor’s decision will be final as to which submissions are acceptable. If in doubt, please send a query to editor (at)ll-publications.com or editor (at)logical-lust.com.

Special Note from the Editor-in-Chief

Respect and courtesy at all times are not only appreciated, but it goes a long way towards developing a harmonious relationship among editor, publisher, and writer. LL-Publications sincerely wants to form enjoyable and prosperous working relationships with our writers/contributors and always endeavour to be professional and considerate. We ask the same consideration of anyone seeking publication with us.

Everyone at LL-Publications is an author, and we understand what it is like to submit for publication, but please try to understand our position as editors and publisher. If at any time, LL-Publications feels a writer is being unnecessarily rude, discourteous, abusive, irresponsible, unreasonable, difficult to work with, or otherwise unprofessional, we may suspend all contact with said writer—no matter how good their work is—and refuse any current and future projects.

We urge you to read the following article “Publishing and Professional Courtesy” that illustrates what we mean—and what can happen if courtesy is ignored.

MARKETING, EDITING, ROYALTIES

Marketing

Prior to the offer of any contract, we require a marketing plan for manuscripts we intend to publish. We help authors who help themselves. We expect contracted authors to be active in the promotion of their books and will provide an initial supply of various promotional items. For book signings and other promotional events, we can provide other items upon request.

Editing & Acceptance

Please edit your work thoroughly before submitting to LL-Publications, even if it means obtaining third-party assistance. Unedited or poorly-edited submissions will be dismissed without further consideration.

Please see our House Style Sheet as a guide.

If your submission is not chosen, we will not provide any further feedback. Publishing is very subjective, and at the end of the day, opinion, along with other market-based influences and our specific needs, is what we base our decisions on. A rejection is not meant to be construed as a personal judgment on the author. Our opinion may, and is very likely to, differ from that of another publisher.

Editing of submissions after acceptance is considered part of the acceptance, and the editors reserve the right to edit content and length of any submission prior to publication. However, it is not our intention to alter an individual’s writing or style. Editing will only be done if the editor believes it is in the author’s and/or LL-Publication’s best interests. The editors reserve the right not to accept any submission.

Kill Fee

In rare cases where no final edits can be agreed upon and/or either party wishes to withdraw/reject the submission, only the rights to the submission in its ORIGINAL form are returned to the author. All edits done under contract by our editors are copyright of LL-Publications, therefore the rights to those edits (NOT your original manuscript) remain with us, and only the submission in its ORIGINAL form is the property of the author. Authors can, however, retain all of the edits by paying a standard editing fee. No partial edits can be purchased.

Rights

LL-Publications will normally seek exclusive, worldwide digital and print rights for up to 730 days (2 years) from the date of publication (see Sec. VII in contract).

Payment terms

For novels/single author collections our standard royalty terms are:

Print: 22.5% of the cover price for books sold directly from our own sources. 7.5% of the cover price for books sold from sources requiring distributor discounts.
